Ninety Local Churches Partnering With Hospice

Ninety local churches have now partnered with Hospice of Chesterfield County through the agency’s Watchman Program. This special church-hospice partnership program was implemented to help ensure that people receive quality end-of-life care sooner in their diagnosis regardless of where they live, their diagnosis, age or economic status.The goal of Hospice of Chesterfield County’s Watchman Program is to identify and train a representative in every congregation in Chesterfield County who will serve as the Hospice Watchman Representative in that congregation. This hospice trained representative will serve as a liaison between Hospice and the church, conveying the needs

Seven Area Residents Complete Volunteer Training

Seven area residents recently completed Hospice of Chesterfield County’s volunteer training program. The 15-hour course was held July 12 – 20 at Hospice of Chesterfield County’s office in Chesterfield.

Those completing the course include: Bonnie Jean Black and Carolyn F. Russell of Cheraw, Tammy Griffin of Chesterfield, Alice Hunter of Pageland, Joe Martin McDaniel of Patrick, Verlinda J. Bass of Bennettsville and Alice V. Z. Harrison of Morven. Hospice of Chesterfield County now has 95 active direct patient care volunteers that can serve terminally ill patients and families.

New Board Member Welcomed

Hospice of Chesterfield County is pleased to welcome William P. “Bill” Stubbs to its board of directors.   Stubbs was elected to his first three-year term as a board member at the agency’s annual meeting on June 24.  Hospice of Chesterfield County is the area’s only locally-based, non-profit hospice agency serving Chesterfield and Marlboro counties.Stubbs resides in Chesterfield with his wife, the former Margery Goforth.  The Stubbs have three children, Bill, Jim and Beth (Hough), and four grandchildren.  A graduate of Presbyterian College, Stubbs earned a Master’s Degree from Western Carolina University.Stubbs began his career in education
