What is Hospice?
Hospice is a comprehensive program of quality end-of-life care and supportive services designed to help terminally ill persons live as comfortably and as fully as possible during the last stage of their lives.
At Hospice of Chesterfield County, we offer maximum comfort and care which includes managing pain and symptoms to emphasize quality of life as well as help the patient and family prepare for and adjust to the inevitable final stage of life. Our caring staff offers medical, emotional, and spiritual support to the patient and their family through an interdisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, social workers, clergy and volunteers.
Hospice of Chesterfield County believes that caring for the patient can be done in the home with the family as the primary caregivers. Hospice professionals will help the family meet the physical and emotional demands of keeping their loved one at home, as well as help ensure that the home environment is positive and stable for the patient and the family.
Why Choose A Non-Profit Hospice?
At Hospice of Chesterfield County, instead of focusing on generating profits for stock dividends, we reinvest revenue to improve patient care and family bereavement support programs. As a non-profit Hospice, our bottom line isn't a number. It's the pride we take in successfully delivering a deeper, more personal level of care to our patients and their families.
As a non-profit Hospice, Hospice of Chesterfield County provides care for all individuals, regardless of age, race, religion, sexual orientation or ability to pay. Costs are covered under Medicare, Medicaid, most private insurance plans, HMOs, and other managed care organizations. Many health insurance companies offer a comprehensive Hospice care benefit plan. If the patient has Medicare or Medicaid, they may become eligible for the special Hospice benefit. However, care will not be denied or diminished because of an inability to pay.
Additional funding for Hospice is provided through a variety of sources including memorials, honorariums, individual gifts, endowments, bequests, memberships, and donations by churches, businesses, corporations, United Way, community organizations, and individuals. All donations to Hospice of Chesterfield County are fully tax deductible.
